About Korea University Institute for Sustainability
Founded in 2008, the Korea University Institute for Sustainability (KUIS) is dedicated to cultivating talents who contribute to societal and human advancement. Through various activities both on and off campus, we embody the spirit of active intelligence and take actionable steps toward sustainable development. We believe that a university's responsibility extends beyond education and research to address pressing social issues and drive transformative changes in the world. KUIS is committed to creating a better world through active participation at local, national, and international levels. Our Changemakers program empowers students to engage with local communities, identify social and environmental issues, and implement solutions, transforming them into leaders who drive change rather than mere volunteers. Additionally, our Vision Education program continuously nurtures hope and dreams in underprivileged students both domestically and internationally, helping to bridge educational gaps and revitalize struggling rural schools. In 2023, KUIS became the primary institution for overseeing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities at Korea University. We have expanded our field participation programs across all colleges and departments and are strengthening efforts to enhance sustainability in research, education, and university administration. A sustainable future opens up when everyone can live a prosperous and healthy life in a clean environment, free from poverty, inequality, discrimination, conflict, and climate crisis. We invite you to actively join us in our efforts to create such a future.
