About Kravis Lab for Civic Leadership
The Kravis Lab for Civic Leadership (KLCL) at Claremont McKenna College supports the College’s mission to prepare students for thoughtful, productive lives and responsible leadership in business, government, and the professions. Through innovative programs, we enhance students’ civic readiness and empower them to engage with real-world issues, fostering the leadership skills needed to drive positive change. KLCL provides dynamic opportunities for students to develop their leadership capabilities while making a meaningful impact in the communities they serve. We emphasize active engagement, collaboration, and communication to create sustainable civic change, equipping students with the knowledge, habits, and creativity to thrive as impactful leaders in a democratic society. Core Programs: - Student Connection A transformative program that pairs CMC students with local K-12 students from the Pomona school district for one-on-one peer tutoring. This initiative provides free, high-quality academic support to all students, regardless of financial status. Through this program, we empower youth and create greater access to educational opportunities while fostering civic participation and engagement. - CIVES CIVES is dedicated to increasing civic engagement and voter participation within the CMC community and beyond. The program works to raise awareness around the importance of voting, facilitates open dialogues about civics, and provides essential resources to support informed and active participation in democratic processes. CIVES brings together students, faculty, and staff to create immersive experiences that enhance the democratic engagement of the campus community.
