The story of KTCollection's creation is as organic as the jewelry itself, which infuses classic lines with an urban flair. In 2002, Katie Thompson was working as a junior editor at a glamorous New York magazine. To keep up with the mercurial fashion scene, she started whipping up necklaces and earrings, using everything from feathers to vintage baubles. Suddenly, editors started eying her creations and asking her to design items for them. And then, the word was out. Boutiques around Manhattan began carrying her work and Katie expanded her tiny stand at an East Village flea market to festivals and holiday boutiques all over the city. Her distinct style has caught the eye of stars such as Drew Barrymore, Giselle Bundchen, Tori Spelling, and Amy Adams. KTCollection has evolved into a line with a distinct look, inspired by Manhattan's fashion world as well as Katie's travels. Now that Katie's husband Zoubir is also a full-time employee, KTCollection is officially a family business. Katie likes to mix New York's edgy street style with timeless gold and silver designs. She hunts down rich stones and brings meaningful pieces from her travels to her line. And because KTCollection sells in locations all over New York city, the jewelry reflects the trends of Manhattan while being amazingly easy to wear.
