About kuka-me

Kuka-me, is the new venture of jewellery designer Reema Pachachi. Offering beautiful sterling silver and 18ct gold, kuka-me designs are particularly created for the independent woman with an individual sense of style. Known for her elegant and intelligent design, Reema was the first Creative Director of De Beers in 2001, and is Visiting Professor of Jewellery at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Reema draws her inspiration from a multitude of sources including nature, architecture and textiles. Her philosophy is that design is a dynamic. “Good design comes alive when people use it, it is an active state between creator and participant. I believe when you wear a piece of jewellery; your personality brings another dimension to it, for that reason, it is important to try the pieces on. Paying close attention to details such as: flattering proportions and shapes that frame the face, result in highly wearable but unique pieces”. The name kuka-me, a combination of the words 'kuka', meaning uplift in Zulu or Northern Sotho and 'me' in English, was inspired by a customer who said she always felt gorgeous and confident when wearing the jewellery.
