KızCode is a social enterprise that seeks to empower young girls and women in ethnic minority groups and disadvantaged communities. Using digital education technologies and pedagogies that involve making and play, the project also aims to address girls’ and young women’s wellbeing and mental health, which are key issues that are often not addressed through education. KızCode has won several awards. In 2015, it was recognised by the UK Home Office in England for its contribution to Social Enterprise. In 2016, KızCode was recognised as developing an innovative approach to corporate social responsibility by the United Nations Junior Chamber International. In 2017, founder of KızCode Müjde Esin, was given Microsoft’s Women Leaders of Technology award as the most successful Woman Educator of the Year. KızCode, dezavantajlı bölgelerdeki kız çocuklarının; kodlama, bilim ve teknoloji yoluyla hayatın kenarından merkezine taşınmasını hedefleyen bir sosyal girişim platformudur.
