Through the course of time, our Jewish past, our Jewish history has been lost and even destroyed. The chain is broken and many links are missing. Knowledge of the lives of those who came before us — each life a link in the chain — we can rediscover, reclaim, repair and restore. Our vision is that every person with Jewish heritage can strengthen identity and connection from enhanced ancestral discovery. Our work begins with an unprecedented global project to discover all the hidden-in-plain-sight records, the Documentation of Jewish Records Worldwide (DoJR) project. We are building JCat, the world’s most comprehensive catalog of historical documents of Jewish lives throughout the Diaspora. We work with the most passionate volunteers and partners, around the globe, conducting surveys and cataloging relevant documents that help extend our reach. We are developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to conduct surveys of digitized historical documents in ways not previously possible — exponentially faster, more comprehensive, and at lower cost. Our project work is innovative, systematic, and creative — making the previously impossible, possible. This is only the beginning of our journey to restore the chain of the generations of our ancestors, 𝘭'𝘥𝘰𝘳 𝘷'𝘥𝘰𝘳 (from generation to generation). Studies have shown that knowing family history is the single biggest predictor of emotional well being. Our ability to pass on the lessons of our ancestors’ lives so that future generations may inform their life’s choices has never been so great, so easy, so compelling. Let’s get it done!
