Select Case Studies: LEGAL SETTLEMENT SERVICE COMPANY SITUATION: This client needed a way to accurately and reliably calculate revenue for new Accounting rules (ASC 606 – Revenue Recognition).Historically, the company could not rely on their revenue calculations. APPROACH: Analysis + Logic + Critical Thinking = Data Solutions I worked with Operations, Sales and IT (database administrator) to translate Operations tracking data into triggers for revenue recognition. BENEFIT: The client now has reliable evidence and documentation of revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 on a weekly basis. CONSTRUCTION STAFFING COMPANY SITUATION: This company upgraded their accounting system and needed volume, gross margin and sales commission reports by project. Internal IT and the ERP implementation partner did not understand the client’s business well enough to develop accurate reports. APPROACH: Analysis + Logic + Critical Thinking = Data Solutions I worked with the CEO, CFO and Operations manager to design reporting packages for the executive team and sales group. I researched selected accounting packages and developed reports from the database back-end of the client’s ERP system. BENEFIT: The company has weekly insight into the profitability of each project they undertake as well as sales commissions.
