About La Hermandad de UCR
The purpose of this organization shall be to create a welcoming environment where students at UCR can thrive and succeed while contributing to the Chicano/Latino community. As “La Nueva Persona” we will strive to spread our philosophy of Hermandad as a stepping-stone towards creating a sense of familia on the UCR campus and in the (local) Riverside community. We will focus our efforts towards increasing the matriculation, retention, and graduation rates among the Chicano/Latino male student population. We will achieve this through the guidance of our three pillars: academic excellence, community service, and social networking. With the understanding that Chicano/Latino males traditionally face institutional, societal, and internal struggles, HUCR aims to address and surpass these historical adversities. As “La Nueva Person,” our mission is to impact our community and serve as leaders to incoming Chicano/Latino male students. By becoming contributing members of our society, we can encourage others to follow in our footsteps.
