Rumor has it that St. Louis started here when Pierre Laclède took to shore on present-day Laclede’s Landing more than 260 years ago. Back then he was prospecting to build a trading post along the Mississippi River. Today, Laclede’s Landing spans nine historic blocks in the heart of Downtown St. Louis. Home to beautiful architecture, cobblestone streets, and dozens of businesses still trading goods and services today. This iconic location sits just steps away from the Mississippi Riverfront and Gateway Arch National Park offering superb access to the Dome at America's center, Washington Avenue, and Busch Stadium III. It's an urban oasis filled with scenic wildlife views along the river to the best places to Live, Eat, Work, and Play in St. Louis. In the past five years the area has transformed itself from an entertainment district into a budding mixed use riverfront neighborhood with currently over 140 residents and 600 employees taking in those spectacular views of the river, Eads Bridge, and Arch grounds while welcoming in the millions of tourists that sample our streets each year. One thing has remained true in all these years: St. Louis started here as a place of discovery, and we aren’t planning on stopping that tradition anytime soon.
