About Lake Hāwea Station
Lake Hāwea Station is Australasias first certified Carbon positive farm (sequestering 2.5 x more carbon than they emit Toitu 2021) They have limited eco Luxury accomodation in residences which were award Condé Nast Gold award for sustainable Luxury in 2023. The property practices regenerative agriculture and has disrupted traditional animal animal welfare approaches in favour of a animal centric practices. The Station has a communal space for education and sharing learnings (successes and failures) as they attempt to prove that climate positive farming can be sustainable and profitable thus incentivising others to farm for the planet. In 2023 The book Meet You at The Main Divide was released by Harper Collins it shares the story of the founders transition from an urban lifestyle back to their rural roots. Lake Hawea Station is home to over 300 species including 10 endemic and 8 native birds. We are trying everything we can to ensure farming is part of the climate and biodiversity crisis solution rather than an ongoing contributor to the extinction of species and the planet's demise. We are also interested in solutions to food security. Lake Hawea Station is 6.500 hectares and is New Zealand’s premier regenerative High Country sheep and beef Station. Situated in the spectacular Queenstown Lakes District. The property enjoys uninterrupted views of the picturesque Lake Hawea to the West and North and alpine, tussock and beech forest ranges to the East. Links to our Climate Action partners - www.CanaryCarbon.co.nz - https://www.CarbonCrop.nz - https://www.CarbonZ.io The ultimate goal of the station is to move from carbon neutral to carbon positive times ten. Everyone working at @lakehaweastationlivingconsiders doing so a privilege not because their office is the stunning South Island high country but because they are liberating and legacy-making every day. Thanks for your interest in our work with the Station, Team LHS
