About Lake Tahoe Community College
LTCC has embraced the evidence-based Guided Pathways framework to create structure and support that ensures success for students from a variety of backgrounds. Guided Pathways and their corresponding Meta Majors can help students discover their particular areas of interest, get on the right academic path, and network with others who share those interests. The framework ensures students achieve their goals in a cost-effective and efficient way, with wraparound and coordinated support services. LTCC'sLake Tahoe College Promise is one of the most comprehensive in the state, and provides free tuition and wraparound services to first-time, full-time students for up to three years. It also includes a wealth of support services and specialized events just for Promise students. LTCC is the only bi-state Promise in the country, ensuring California and Nevada residents and DREAMers and members and descendants of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California can access the program. Students planning to transfer to a four-year university have a wide variety of options. The University of California, the California State Universities, and other accredited colleges and universities give full credit for equivalent and transferable courses completed at LTCC. The campus is also home to the Lisa Maloff University Center, which provides access to a variety of advanced degree programs through university center partners. LTCC is also working to expand career and technical education offerings. The Lake Tahoe Basin Fire Academyprepares students for careers in fire suppression and management. The Forestry Education program provides stackable certificates and an AA degree leading directly to employment in the U.S. Forest Service and CAL FIRE. As of Fall 2023, LTCC provides students the opportunity to earn certificates of achievement and foundational skills certificates in 53 high-demand career fields, and 26 associate degrees (AAs) and 16 associate degrees for transfer (ADTs).
