About Langley Hospice Society
ABOUT THE LANGLEY HOSPICE SOCIETY Langley Hospice Society is a community-based not-for-profit organization that is committed to providing emotional, practical and social support for people who are living with terminal illness, and their family and friends, throughout the last stages of illness, at the time of death, and bereavement. In addition to palliative care and support through the Doug and Fran MacDonald Langley Hospice Residence and in the community, the Langley Hospice Society provides anticipatory, early and ongoing, individual and group grief support programs for children, teens, adults and families; education; advocacy; community outreach; specialized volunteer training, art, recreation and play-based support programs for grieving children and teens, outreach in local schools, and social and recreation focused peer-support programs for grieving adults, including Supportive Steps—a walking group for bereaved adults, Grief Yoga, a resource library and much more. For almost forty years, the Langley Hospice Society has been committed to providing quality palliative and bereavement care and support to our growing community, and with diverse but limited funding sources, we fundraise annually to be able to continue to offer this type of quality programming and to ensure these offerings remain free of charge for the children, teens, adults and families we serve. Since its incorporation in 1983, the Langley Hospice Society has had a goal of a permanent, free-standing hospice residence to ensure access to quality palliative care and support for our community. In May of 2022, with the incredible support of our community, the Langley Hospice Society completed construction and began operations of the Doug and Fran MacDonald Langley Hospice Residence, in partnership with Fraser Health.
