About Lareman Architects
Growing up I have vivid memories of sunlight filtering through stained glass windows, dancing across yellow wood floors in the Victorian home we lived in. Staring out a bay window set in thick sandstone walls across the Klein Karoo town of Oudtshoorn, over the town and veld beyond. The environment around us becomes a patina of lives lived with stories to tell. Continuing those stories, whether it's done through the conservation of existing structures or designing new spaces to live in, is why I love being an architect. My name is Anja Lareman and I'm a registered professional architect, Design & Theory lecturer at the University of Cape Town and founder of Lareman Architects. I graduated my masters in architecture cum laude in 2014 and have been practicing as project and design architect since 2015. The types of projects I've been involved with range from residential buildings, commercial and agricultural buildings on wine farms, planning & redevelopment and heritage applications for alterations to local and provincial heritage sites. My mission is to expand Lareman Architects as a design brand to enable the creation of employment and further impact the lives of others, so their stories may also be told through the lives they live and the work we do.
