About Laurel Crown Foundation
The Laurel Crown Foundation is a 501(C)3 foundation for the promotion of poetry and art. Once a year in April the Laurel Crown Foundation sponsors the Awaken the Sleeping Poet & Art Festival at the San Antonio Museum of Art at 200 W. Jones Ave., San Antonio, Texas. Poets and artists of all ages (kindergarten to senior adults) are invited to submit poetry and art for consideration. Cash prizes, trophies, certificates and publication in the anthology, The Dreamcatcher are the benefits offered for the winning submissions. The art submissions are displayed in the foyer of the museum on the festival date (usually the first or second weekend in April). This is in celebration of National Poetry Month and also to encourage the poets and artists in the San Antonio area. The small surrounding towns around San Antonio participate as well. The winning art submission is used as the cover of the poetry anthology. The Laurel Crown offers sponsoring memberships in the Laurel Crown Foundation.
