Laurel House, Inc. is the tangible result of the efforts of a group of concerned individuals within Fayette County with vision and the firm belief that individuals with Intellectual Disabilities could not only benefit from the opportunity to live in the community but have a moral and ethical right to do so. They founded a private, non-profit corporation, persevered in the face of numerous obstacles, and finally realized their dream on December 2, 1970, when the doors to the original group home first swung open. Many lives have been touched to various degrees since that date through the bond that is shared by Laurel House staff, friends, and individuals. All the while, the Laurel House Organization has continued to serve as an example of excellence and as a model for other such groups. Over the years, Laurel House Inc. has continued to grow and serve individuals proudly and, in more ways, than ever before. Laurel House has seen a constantly growing staff, new homes, and new individuals to serve and assist. We firmly believe that through you, with your skills and dedication and the support of the rest of the staff, it will continue to do so in the coming years.
