Privately owned and run publishing company, specialising in the sport of Rugby League. Publishers of the market-leading weekly (tabloide sized,all full colour) newspaper, Rugby Leaguer & League Express, its complementary sister publication, the market-leading monthly (A4 gloss, all full colour) magazine, Rugby League World and the www.totalrl.com website, the most popular Rugby League website in the United Kingdom. Publishers also of the annual League Express Rugby League Yearbook (following the demise of the earlier, similarly annual publication, the Rothmans Rugby League Yearbook) and occasional, seminal Rugby League books - for example: The Rugby League World Cup; The Forbidden Game; All Blacks to All Golds and so on. The company owns and awards: a) the internationally recognised `Rugby League Golden Boot', awarded each year to the best Rugby League player worldwide, as chosen by an international panel of Rugby League writers, past players and other knowlegeable persons, and b) the Albert Goldthorpe Medal and the various other, related Albert Goldthorpe awards, to the player who gains the highest number of weekly points by reporters for League Express. Points are awarded by our Super League match-report writers, at each of the regular season's Super League matches, on a 3, 2, 1 basis to the best, second best and third best player in each match. The title award winner receives a cheque for £2,000 plus a solid gold medal engraved with the image of the iconic Albert Goldthorpe, who was perhaps the greatest player of his generation, captaining the great Hunslet club of its day to victory in All Four Cups in the 1907/8 season.
