Lederer Studio was formed in the summer of 1978 to provide fine furniture, wood carving and sculpture to select individuals. We are committed to delivering the absolute highest quality product to every client. Our objective is to maintain our reputation as a furniture designer/cabinet-maker with expertise in wood carving and sculpture, and as an artist who can be trusted to deliver quality furniture that will appreciate in value over time. Our approach is timeless. Our designs are a synthesis of enduring traditional designs including Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, Oriental and Art Nouveau with an emphasis on simplicity and subtle elegant lines. We believe that a piece of furniture should stand the test of time both in structure and enduring design while at the same time retaining it’s uniqueness and artistry. With a philosophy of structure, fine select materials, elegant lines, fine carving, and beautiful finishes, Tom Lederer designs each piece with patience, care and an artistic approach. We believe in using the best hand selected materials, construction and hardware. All furniture is constructed using domestic and exotic hardwoods and veneers, while executing traditional fine joinery techniques to include mortise and tenon, mitre-spline, etc. All carving and sculpture is hand carved in original designs. Our emphasis is always on balancing the difference between art and structure. Structural integrity is never compromised for design, style or ornamentation. Lederer Studio, through the selection of quality materials, the development of original designs and the use of fine joinery, creates fine art furniture that will last for generations. We recognize that no two clients are alike, and each piece of furniture should reflect the individual’s design needs. Lederer Studio will provide extensive design consultation to determine how each piece should be constructed to meet these goals.
