Leftwich Consulting Engineers, Inc. (LCE) was formed in 1986 to fill a need in area-wide modeling techniques. Dr. D. Scot Leftwich, P.E. felt adequate, accurate, & timely modeling could be accomplished with the microcomputer for Regional Updates, Sub Area Analysis, Corridor Studies, Traffic Impact Studies, Comprehensive Plans and City, County & other transportation analyses. LCE has been very successful in this area of expertise & have expanded our capabilities to Multi-Modal Analysis, Transit Analysis, Toll Analysis, HOV Analysis, SAFETEA-LU Requirements, Traffic Operations & Design, Implementation Studies, Parking Studies, Signal Design & Systems, Design Traffic & Expert Witness. One of LCE's specialties is the calibration of transportation computer models. When TRANPLAN (FSUTMS) was introduced in Central Florida in 1986, most consultants were using another set of programs, or none @ all. LCE, using TRANPLAN, developed a set of work sheets for Osceola County to run analyses on PCs. This was the beginning of area-wide use of TRANPLAN. LCE’s Staff has validated over 30 models & combined models since the early 70's. Since 1986, LCE has completed over 1,000 engineering jobs, 70% of which required modeling. The capabilities of Leftwich Consulting Engineers, Inc. are well diversified. Leftwich Consulting Engineers, Inc. pioneered Micro-Computer Transportation Modeling in Central Florida and continues setting trends in the Traffic & Transportation Engineering field.
