About Leibniz Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP)

Atmosphäre endet nie – Wir forschen an der Grenze zum Weltraum an der Physik der Mesosphäre und der unteren Thermosphäre. Dafür entwickeln und betreiben wir spezielle Messgeräte wie einzigartige Lidare, Radare, Forschungsraketen und angepasste Atmosphärenmodelle. Als An-Institut der Universität Rostock und Mitglied der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft sind wir mit Partnern auf der ganzen Welt vernetzt. Unser Hauptsitz befindet sich in Kühlungsborn direkt an der Ostsee. Daneben betreiben wir eine Außenstelle in Juliusruh auf Rügen und beteiligen uns maßgeblich am ALOMAR-Observatorium in Nordnorwegen. Unser Institut, an dem aktuell rund 70 Personen arbeiten und forschen, gibt es mittlerweile seit 30 Jahren.
