About LEREM Laboratory

LEREM (Laboratoire d'Etudes et de Recherches des Emballages Métalliques) was created in 1961 on the initiative of the S.N.F.B.M. (Syndicat National des Fabricants de Boîtes, Emballages et Bouchages Métalliques) and, since 1987, has been an association governed by the law of 1901. In 1997, as part of its activities relating to the transport of hazardous goods, LEREM obtained approval from the French Ministry of Transport to carry out tests on packaging, approve packaging types and monitor production. This approval has been renewed ever since. LEREM offers its services to its members and their customers, as well as to all companies involved in metal packaging (mainly steel, aluminum and metal packaging manufacturers, packagers, paint, cleaning product and chemical manufacturers, the food and cosmetics industries, and distributors), to help them solve any problems they may encounter in the vast field of metal packaging and its many applications. LEREM's services include expert appraisals, testing and packaging approvals, for which it has a range of test platforms and a staff of engineers and technicians. Other work is carried out in the collective interest, such as technological and regulatory monitoring.
