About Let It Shine Academy (Lisa)
The purpose of LISA is to introduce the creative development & the arts to the wider Nigerian demographic of a less privileged background from an early age (ages 5-16), to help them discover and develop hidden skills and talents that would otherwise go unnurtured as that is integral to childhood development which is their right. The goal is to create a platform, through the academy, which encourages and celebrates passion, artistry and expression across all forms, therefore investing in the foundations of further creative development and eradicating neglect completely in this area. Our goal is that every child leaves these facilities or the streets at their age of maturity having something/a skill or talent that they can do with their hands. Our vision is an end to neglect and marginalization & equal opportunity for a child to fully develop. By creating safe, responsive, and supportive environments are created that allow for the full and successful development of children who grow up to become thriving members of the community; therefore, putting an end to the poisonous cycle that is under stimulation, anti education and poor development leading to poverty, unemployment and so on. Neglect for children comes in various forms as it is when children do not get what the brain is expecting to get, what the child is expecting to receive and what we are biologically prepared and waiting for which is input from those around us and our surroundings. Our Story It all started with one question that spiralleed to a few more questions. What is the root of the issue? How do we combat this root issue in a sustainable way? These two questions are what filled the mind of our founder due to the growing discomfort & frustration of simply having to drive pass an increasing number of children on the streets and realising the 500 naira could only go a long way but was not the solution. A simple instruction from God to visit & buy art materials for children at a government facility
