Let’s Kick ASS—AIDS Survivor Syndrome is a grassroots movement dedicated to empowering HIV Long-Term Survivors to thrive hrough connection, re-engagement and mobilization to create meaningful change to enhance Quality Of Life. We envision a world where people aging with HIV live long, healthy, dignified, engaged, meaningful and productive lives, free from stigma and discrimination. By connecting to and building our resilience, we ensure healthy aging. LKA is the first nonprofit focusing on the needs and issues facing HIV long-term survivors. OUR MISSION & PURPOSE Dedicated to reclaiming lives, ending isolation, and helping long-term survivors envision a future that we never dreamed we'd live. We are also focused on Healthy Aging With HIV. We're raising awareness about the more than half-million people who came of age during the 1980s and ’90s when having HIV was considered a death sentence. It’s our goal to address the psychosocial, mental, and behavioral determinants of health and illness among long-term survivors everywhere. Our focus is to foster resilience to help heal the trauma of those who survived the AIDS epidemic by bringing people together, building a community, and ultimately making our lives better. We coined AIDS Survivor Syndrome (ASS) to describe the effects of the trauma thousands of long-term survivors are experiencing. By highlighting the resilience and strength of long-term survivors, we believe we can make a difference in the lives of survivors.
