About Letters to the Earth
“No one will protect what they don't care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced.” - David Attenborough Nature needs us. We need nature. When all life on Earth is at risk, how can we move forwards with courage and creativity, and with care? Letters to the Earth is an award-winning global participatory and creative story-telling organisation working to transform humanity's relationship with nature en masse. We create award-winning experiences for a diversity of people to stop ‘business as usual’ and feel their connection with the wider web of life, increasing their capacity and imagination to respond to the environmental crises of our times. We let nature lead the way. We use outdoor immersions, the arts and storytelling campaigns to inspire a love of nature in everyone and to build mass engagement in environmental action. We are leading a cultural shift in values that places respect for the natural world at the centre. Since 2019, thousands of people around the world have been writing their Letters to or from the Earth. We amplify letters in public art works, media campaigns and at global climate conferences. A collection of curated letters has been published by HarperCollins UK and US in an award-winning book, Letters to the Earth, Writing to a Planet in Crisis, introduced by actor Dame Emma Thompson and illustrated by Jackie Morris. In 2020 Letters to the Earth was nominated Best Campaign by Julie’s Bicycle’s Creative Green Awards. In 2022 we won the inaugural Global Dimensions Teachers Choice Award for our 'deeply moving and motivating' educational and community resources. Join us in remembering that we too are part of nature, and that when we look after nature, we are looking after ourselves. www.letterstotheearth.com
