When I started my career as a filmmaker, I learned more on the job than from my formal education. Why? Because in the real world, I could ask questions and get tangible advice from seasoned professionals. This allowed me to quickly gain confidence and start producing my own films. I soon longed for a mentor who could quickly fill gaps in my knowledge. My only options were learning the hard way through trial and error, or overworking my contacts. Later, I found myself on the other side, with newcomers offering me coffee or lunch in exchange for advice. I happily obliged, as mentors were hard for me to come by early on in my career. This willingness to lift up emerging filmmakers ultimately earned me a Lifetime Achievement Award. However, as my career grew, I struggled to find time to mentor others while meeting pressing deadlines. I wanted to compile the common bite-sized questions I received and create affordable, à la carte learning modules. That's why I created LevelUps - streamlined courses to augment your existing knowledge. LevelUps are NOT a film school.
