About Levy Economics Institute
The Levy Economics Institute of Bard College is an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank that seeks to broaden the policy debate on economic issues that profoundly influence quality of life. Our research spans topics ranging from financial stability to job creation to social inclusion and sustainable growth—goals that require new economic policies driven by informed discourse and a range of expert opinion. Through its research and analysis, and by bringing together scholars and leaders in the policy and business communities, the Levy Institute aims to put forward innovative proposals that address current as well as emerging economic policy issues, both within and outside the United States. Together with Bard College, the Levy Institute also offers the Master of Science in Economic Theory and Policy, a unique two-year degree program designed to meet the preprofessional needs of undergraduates in economics and related fields. With a curriculum built on the groundbreaking policy work of economists Hyman Minsky and Wynne Godley, the Levy MS program emphasizes theoretical and empirical aspects of policy analysis through specialization in one of five key research areas: macroeconomic theory, policy, and modeling; monetary policy and financial structure; distribution of income, wealth, and well-being; gender equality and time poverty; and employment and labor markets.
