About Leyden Space
Satellites are key to global communication, weather tracking, and critical science. However their uses, movements, and lifespans are incredibly limited. With limited propellant, satellites as a whole face billions of dollars in premature mission losses, increased space debris from uncontrolled deorbiting, and reduced resilience in planetary defense and commercial applications. In short, propellant dependence shortens lifetimes, raises costs, and creates long-term sustainability challenges for space operations. At Leyden Space, we are developing propulsion systems which interact with Earth’s magnetic field and the non-uniform plasma environments in orbit to generate thrust without expending propellant. Our mission is to extend satellite lifetimes, improve orbital resilience, increase mission variability, and create new capabilities for the satellite and in-space propulsion market as a whole. By eliminating the reliance on onboard fuel, Leyden Space offers a sustainable and scalable path forward for spacecraft mobility.
