About Lifelong Sport

Lifelong Sport is the brain child of Joshua Chant. Building upon decades of working in sport clubs and associations in Australia, Joshua is sharing best practice knowledge and practical advice for parents and clubs to deliver a player first sporting environment. Our goal is to not create one champion player but to turn all people into active sports participants for life. If we are able to get everyone moving and playing sports, imagine how healthy we would all be, how good our quality of life will be. Picture a world where our community sports clubs are all thriving with players of all ages enjoying their sport, connecting and engaging with each other, in turn strengthening our social bonds. This is not about teaching you how to create a winning team or build an elite athlete. There are many other fantastic books and websites for that. Lifelong Sport is here to teach you how to build a sporting organisation that focuses on the player's needs and motivations and where the chance of retaining them as an active participant for life is maximised. Competition and winning is excellent and striving to be the best you can be, in any given field, is something we should all undertake. Our philosophy to winning and competition is that by building a club environment where retention is the focus then through sheer numbers, the quality of competition will naturally increase. In other words, it is possible to have a good player pathway as well as a championship winning capable team but this is achieved by targeting player retention.
