About Lifespan Design Studio

Lifespan Design Studio (LDS) was created by Doug Gallow, an architect, and Ellen Gallow, a gerontologist/design specialist, to promote a cross-disciplinary approach in the design of environments that are accessible and user-friendly throughout the lifespan. Based in the philosophy that design should support and enhance the quality of life at all life stages, LDS offers studies/planning, design consultation, and comprehensive design services, for a variety of public and private institutional, residential, and commercial settings. Doug & Ellen have completed more than fifty senior center design, renovation, and planning projects in fifteen states. Additionally, they have provided design services for numerous residential projects, ranging from the renovation of private residences (to support aging-in-place) to multi-family housing for special needs and multi-generational populations. Lifespan design concepts also have been applied in a broad variety of projects for local merchants.
