About Lifting Our Voices

LOV focuses on empowering the voices of our community through need-based service projects. Aiming to combat hunger and voter suppression by the collection and archiving of oral history for the establishment and preservation of a more beloved community. During this pandemic, we saw a need to spread love in our community and provide relief for COVID-19. We decided that continuing our annual AUC Sandwich Run event was paramount to fighting hunger in my community. Over a 15 week span, we’ve passed out 10,300 bagged lunches to the homeless population in Miami, Los Angeles, Chattanooga, Chicago, and Atlanta impoverished communities. During that time, in consideration of recent events, a large number of our bag donations to the protesting efforts in Downtown Atlanta. Additionally, for the month of August, we began a clothing/toiletries drive that collected over 2,000 items to give to people in need. We stand in solidarity with all members of our community recognizing that no person deserves to go without food. Currently, we are preparing volunteers to begin our voter registration initiative. We look forward to continuing to spread love throughout the community.
