Lightbeam is a social enterprise that harnesses storytelling for daily inspiration, connection, and motivation. Our mission is to create more empathy in the world. Lightbeam is the first trusted source of inspirational, shareable micro-films about compassionate acts and selfless people. During these uncertain times, when the CDC reports more than 1 in 3 Americans suffer symptoms of an anxiety disorder (CDC), Lightbeam harnesses an exploding consumer demand for spirit-lifting media and helps brands find 'authentic distribution' for its new mission-driven storytelling. We believe (and studies show) that inspiring stories encourage similar pro-social behavior. However, most uplifting content filling our feeds is based on low quality, caught-on-camera moments or formulaic news segments, and there is no go-to source of high-quality video by talented, professional creators. That’s where Lightbeam comes in. Lightbeam is a double-bottom line business, and in addition to serving society, we have a solid business model to grow a successful company. Amid the events of 2020, brands must reimagine how they connect with audiences: 90% say they have abandoned the messaging planned for this year. Many are turning to inspiration as a new way to reach potential customers. Just as brands pay influencers for trustworthy promotion, brands will need new forms of credible distribution for these stories. With Lightbeam, brand-underwritten stories are nested alongside carefully-curated shorts by indie creators and nonprofits.
