About Lighthouse Leaving Care
Lighthouse Leaving Care is a semi-independent home for young adults, aged 16-18 years old, who are in the care system. It is ran by husband and wife team, Gerry and Elaine Gregoire. Both Gerry an Elaine have a wealth of experience in working with young people. They have run a Award Winning Youth Club, Streetwise for the last 15 years, whilst also being long term foster carers and youth workers. Gerry has also been a specialist learning mentor and employability coach and devised many projects working with homeless and young adults. The vision for the Lighthouse was born for the gap in the care system which potentially was letting young people down. At Lighthouse, residents have their own room/flatlet with en-suite etc. They have the use of communal rooms such as Lounge, Learning room, Kitchen/Family Room, Gym and Music Room. The house is staffed 24/7. Lighthouse will encourage and source educational programmes, apprenticeships and jobs for the residents. They will be continually mentored throughout their stay and taught vital independent living skills to equip them for when they live on their own.
