About Lighthouse of Pinellas
Lighthouse of Pinellas (LHP) is a nationally accredited, not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization that provides life-changing programs, services and training for Pinellas County, FL residents who are blind or visually impaired. Founded in 1956, LHP’s training, outreach and education reaches over 3,000 individuals annually and services are provided at no cost to families. Lighthouse of Pinellas employs a variety of specially-trained staff certified and/or licensed in vision rehabilitation, orientation and mobility, occupational therapy, mental health counseling and speech pathology to help clients live safe, healthy lives as independently as possible. LHP is the only organization in Pinellas County providing comprehensive vision rehabilitation services to individuals of ALL ages, under one roof Committed to service excellence, LHP offers proven age-appropriate programs for children birth to graduation; vocational rehabilitation and job placement assistance for working adults; independent living skills programs for adults and seniors; orientation & mobility training and adaptive computer/technology training for all ages; as well as an occupational therapist certified in low vision and diabetes education and a licensed mental health counselor who became blind as an adult. Mission The mission of Lighthouse of Pinellas is to advance the independence and quality of life for individuals in Pinellas County who are blind or visually impaired.
