About LigniCore
Fossil carbon will not suddenly stop being extracted unless viable and abundant alternatives arise. Now, what if one third of all plant biomass could be used to manufacture a multitude of materials we all use every day, instead of being burned? Lignin represents 20-40% of all plants and contains over 60% biogenic carbon, with a high aromaticity. Lignin is potentially available in massive quantities as an industrial residue and possesses a high energy content, but it is currently largely combusted or used in applications with a very low added value. The tremendous potential of this abundant resource is being wasted as demands and opportunities fail to meet. This is where we come in. LigniCore is an environmental technology provider and a developer of lignin-based renewable materials. Specializing in the valorization of lignin residual streams, from the pulp and paper industry or from various agricultural sectors, we cover a broad range of materials, including but not limited to: - Thermoset resins for binders and composites (LigniSet®) - Emulsions for water-barrier coatings (LigniCoat®) - Thermoplastic bio-fillers (LigniSol®) - Elastomers and rubber substituents (LigniFlex®) LigniCore’s patented processes for various chemical modifications of lignin allow for a simpler incorporation in complex systems that constitute some of today’s most commonly used materials. By substituting fossil-based components with lignin-based equivalents, thanks to inexpensive and easily scalable manufacturing routes, we aim at broadening the offer for renewable and climate-smart materials while maintaining competitive prices. Give our materials a try and bring our society one step closer to our ambitious climate goals!
