About Lily Pad - A Soft Place to Land
At Lily Pad we believe every child deserves more than just safety. They deserve comfort, dignity, and care, especially in their most vulnerable moments. When a child enters foster care, the first hours can be filled with fear, uncertainty, and loss. Too often, those hours are spent in a sterile, unfamiliar office. That is where Lily Pad steps in. We create home-like spaces inside DSS offices across South Carolina. These spaces transform cold, impersonal rooms into welcoming environments where children can feel at ease, rest, and just be kids. Every space is designed with trauma-informed care principles to promote felt safety, familiarity, and peace during an otherwise traumatic transition. We partner with DSS agencies, donors, volunteers, and community advocates to ensure no child waits in discomfort. When we provide a soft place to land, we do more than ease the waiting. We remind every child that they matter. Learn more, support the mission, or get involved at www.lilypadinc.org. Our Mission: To create comforting, home-like spaces inside DSS offices so that children entering foster care have a soft place to land, providing dignity, safety, and peace during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
