About Lisa Fahey Foundation

The Lisa Fahey Foundation was established in memory of Lisa Fahey who passed away in 2003 after a short battle with cancer. It was Lisa’s wish to create a charitable foundation that helps families with a parent (or primary carer) who has cancer. The Foundation provides financial assistance to patients who are receiving treatment at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre, Port Pirie Regional Health Service Chemotherapy Unit or Whyalla Hospital. The Lisa Fahey Foundation is registered with the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission and is an endorsed Deductible Gift Recipient with the Australian Taxation Office. How we help Social workers at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre, Port Pirie Regional Health Service Chemotherapy Unit or Whyalla Hospital submit applications to the Lisa Fahey Foundation on behalf of patients who are supporting dependant children and are struggling financially. A family’s income is significantly reduced when a parent is unable to work due to the effects of their illness and the treatment. Often they have exhausted all their leave entitlements while receiving treatment and it does not take long before the family is unable to meet their financial commitments. The Foundation is able to provide a response to the social worker’s request for patient assistance usually within 24 hours. Assistance is provided in the form of payment for overdue household accounts for essential services such as electricity, gas, telephone, water, council rates, car registration etc. Our Board The Board of the Lisa Fahey Foundation is managed by a range of senior professionals who volunteer their time and expertise. The administration is handled by a volunteer which means expenses are minimal and the majority of the funds donated to the Foundation are available for patient assistance.
