About Listening Ear Crisis Center
Founded in 1969, Listening Ear has grown from a single 24-hour crisis line serving one community to a multi-service agency staffed by nearly 300 people in multiple counties and impacting over 20,000 individuals each year. We are a private, nonprofit, United Way human service agency based in Mt. Pleasant, MI providing services across mid and northern Michigan. Our Purpose is to support and improve human life around the clock. Our Mission is to offer hope and opportunity by listening to, supporting, and advocating for people who need quality services and safe, affordable housing. Programs Offered: - Crisis Line: Available to anyone, 24 hours every day. The trained staff are helpful in exploring options and solutions to your problems, caring when you just want someone to listen, and supportive when there is no where else to turn. -Child Foster Care: Provides temporary, emergency, and long-term care by trained and caring families. All homes receive ongoing training and support. -Runaway & Homeless Youth: For teenagers, 12-17 years old in Isabella, Clare, and Gladwin Counties who are thinking about running away, have runaway, are homeless, at risk of being homeless, or have been removed from their home by their family. - Child Sexual Abuse Treatment: Designed to make a difference in the lives of sexually-abused children and their families. We provide resources for young people, ages 3-17, who have been recent victims of abuse in Clare and Isabella County. - Transitional Living: Assists homeless young people, ages 16-21, in Isabella or Clare County who are unable to return to their homes. - In-Home Help: For adults and children with disabilities to live as independently as they choose in their own home or with their family. - Residential Services: for individuals with developmental disabilities who are at least 18 years old to increase their independence. -Rental Housing: for low to moderate income families and individuals.
