About Lister Steps

We were founded by local parents who took action to address the need for family support and childcare in the Tuebrook area of Liverpool. We believe that high quality can still be affordable, we reflect this value through the delivery of our childcare, community and events services. We are a successful, sustainable Charity and have been a trusted provider of services for our community since 1997. Our services include: A full day nursery and out of school clubs for older children. A Cafe providing healthy and affordable food. Office rental and meeting room hire Room hire for events, celebrations and conferencing We are proud to call The Old Library our new home. Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and support from Liverpool City Council, we have repaired, restored & re-designed the building into a multi-use venue for events, learning and fun. Since 1905, The Old Library has been a symbol of hope in L13. Funded by wealthy philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, this iconic building was donated to the people of Liverpool as a safe space for learning and served four generations as a much-loved local library until it closed & fell into disrepair in 2006. With so many fond memories of The Old Library, local charity Lister Steps knew this special building was an important part of our community’s shared heritage and in 2012, we embarked on the long journey to bring it back to life.
