About Literacy Instruction for Texas (LIFT)
Since 1961, LIFT has enhanced lives and strengthened communities by teaching adults to read. Founded by the National Council of Jewish Women Dallas Chapter, LIFT has grown to serve thousands every year with the help of hundreds of trained volunteer teachers. We offer adult literacy, GED preparation, and English as a Second Language programs. LIFT’s unique classroom approach provides learners with peer support and a sense of community that brings them hope and a belief in their ability to succeed. Our community partner model allows us to reach into the neighborhoods where people in need of our services live, work and worship.
