About Liudviko Jakavičiaus-Lietuvanio meno fondas, VšĮ
The Liudvikas Jakavičius-Lietuvanis Art Fund is a family-owned institution dedicated to preserving and expanding the Jakavičius family’s art collection. Unlike public or institutional art funds, ours is a private initiative reflecting our family's unique values. Registered in Lithuania as Liudviko Jakavičiaus-Lietuvanio meno fondas, VšĮ (legal code 306443087), we are headquartered in Kaunas. Named after Liudvikas Jakavičius-Lietuvanis (1871-1941), a key figure in Lithuania’s National Revival, our fund honors his legacy as a writer, editor, book carrier (knygnešys), actor, theater director, and banker. The collection showcases a diverse blend of Lithuanian and international contemporary artists. Lithuanian highlights include Antanas Sutkus, Linas Kaziulionis, Petras Vaitiekūnas, Rūta Matulvečiūtė, and Vigintas Stankus, to name a few. Internationally, the collection features works by celebrated figures such as Salvador Dalí, alongside contemporary artists like Bill Claps, Jaime Hayón, Leonardo Nierman, Lina Condes, Mouk Israfilov, and Salustiano García Cruz, as well as other notable talents. Our mission is built on three core pillars: ▶ Art Collection Management: We ensure the conservation, growth, and curation of our collection, promoting Lithuanian art and increasing its global recognition and value. ▶ Global Promotion of Lithuanian Art: Committed to raising Lithuania’s profile in the art world, we forge partnerships with institutions in Lithuania, Austria, Spain, and the U.S. Our “Made in Lithuania” initiative amplifies Lithuanian artists' presence internationally. ▶ Honoring Liudvikas Jakavičius-Lietuvanis: Beyond his literary and theatrical contributions, he was Lithuania’s largest publisher in the Interwar period, producing over two million books and founding ventures like "Rygos Naujienos" and the Lithuanian-Latvian Savings Bank. Our fund is dedicated to ensuring his rightful recognition in history.
