About Live and Forgive

My name is Tom Delaney and I am an educational psychologist and Secular Franciscan affiliate offering to provide a presentation, guided retreat, or facilitated small group series focusing on forgiveness in your parish or community, at minimal cost. In my work with audiences and groups, I can answer the important questions people have related to forgiveness: What is forgiveness? Why is forgiveness important? What are the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of forgiveness? How can I truly forgive someone who has offended or hurt me, in a way that lasts? How can I forgive myself for something I feel bad about having done, or should have done? How can I best decide whether to work toward reconciliation with someone who has hurt me? If I want to, and it will be safe, how can I work toward reconciliation with someone who has hurt me? In answering these questions, I provide a guided experiences through an onsite presentation, retreat, or small group series, or a one day guided wilderness experience at Dunes State Forest and Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge. Each of these activities dynamically integrate: Catechism of the Catholic Church, its tenets relating to forgiveness and encouragement of forgiveness as part of living a life of active faith and building God’s kingdom on earth; Current scientific research findings confirming how emotions work in the brain and nervous system, as well as the benefits of forgiveness for mental and physical health; and Validated processes for forgiveness and reconciliation from the research of Everett Worthington (Virginia Commonwealth University) and Tyler Vanderweele (Harvard University), including: - REACH Forgiveness Process - Six Steps to Self-Forgiveness - Bridge to Reconciliation
