About Liver Education Advocates
1 in 3 adults has fatty liver disease—and most don’t know it. At Liver Education Advocates (LEA), we’re on a mission to change that. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness about liver health, with a special focus on fatty liver disease (MASLD/MASH). Founded by a liver transplant and liver cancer survivor (from MASH/NASH) and his caregiver wife, we are advocates for individuals and families impacted by liver disease. Our mission is to educate, empower, and inspire action—because early awareness can save lives. Fatty liver disease is one of the fastest-growing health crises of our time. An estimated 100 million Americans are affected, and nearly 1 in 5 of those cases may progress to NASH/MASH, a serious form of liver disease that often develops without symptoms. Even more alarming, nearly 10% of children are now affected—largely due to rising sugar consumption and processed diets. At LEA, we believe knowledge is prevention. Through public speaking engagements, educational booths, community partnerships, digital campaigns, infographics, and our award-winning documentary “Silent Epidemic: The Liver Disease NASH,” we’re helping people understand the vital importance of protecting their liver—the body’s powerhouse. We also host a virtual Liver Disease Support Group three times a month.
