About Living Proud
Living Proud has provided support to LGBTIQA+SB (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Asexual, Sistergirl and Brotherboy. The plus sign represents other sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions not specifically covered by the other letters. The terms Sistergirl and Brotherboy acknowledge the trans women and trans men within many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Each letter in the acronym represents a distinct community that has its own unique culture and experiences. The acronym aims to be inclusive of a wide range of identities within the community, acknowledging the diversity and complexity of human experiences related to gender and sexuality. Living Proud is the WA partner of the QLife national LGBTIQ+ telephone and web chat peer-support and referral service. We also run health and wellbeing initiatives and community capacity building. We offer a number of training options for professionals including our award-winning Opening Closets Mental Health training. We also offer other full or half day workplace trainings to improve accessibility for LGBTIQA+SB people. We run a variety of other projects for the LGBTIQA+SB community.
