About Living Yoga
The painful decision to close our doors resulted in supporting organizations that are aligned with our values. We trust that Living Yoga has laid the foundation for continued growth and look forward to seeing what emerges for these organizations in the years ahead. Friends of the Children Portland: Funds Received, $76,192.47 Our trauma-informed, long-term mentoring model started in 1993. Today, Friends of the Children–Portland has 50 Friends guiding, supporting, and mentoring almost 500 children across the Portland metropolitan area. Our mission is to impact generational change by empowering youth who are facing the greatest obstacles through relationships with professional mentors—12+ years, no matter what. Peace in Schools: Funds Received, $40,635.98 Our mission is to liberate minds and hearts to create a more compassionate and awake world. We do this through High School Mindfulness Classes and Trainings for Educators & Youth-Serving Professionals. Each year, we serve an average of 2000 teens throughout the Portland Public Schools District. We are seen as vital mental health support and an early warning system for students who need one-on-one support or urgent mental health interventions. Uprise Collective: Funds Received, $16,931.66 We create space and provide support for people with targeted identities to engage in social uplift within their own communities. Our flat organizational structure makes collective decisions. Willamette Valley Law Project (PCUN): Funds Received, $35,556.48 Born on César Chavez’s 50th birthday, the C3 arm of PCUN. Our mission is to empower farmworkers and Latinx working families through community building, increasing representation, and systems change at the state and national levels. We work at the intersection of farmworker justice, immigrant justice, environmental justice, economic justice, and gender justice.
