About Lokahi Petroleum Consulting

Lokahi (low-kah-hee) is the Hawaiian word for “harmony and unity.” It is about working together for a common purpose. To be successful in oil and gas, geology, reservoir engineering, drilling, completion, production, and economics must all work together. In unconventional plays, many things have to come together in order for it to become commercially viable. These things include geology, geochemistry, geomechanics, petrophysics, reservoir engineering, and the ability to successfully drill and complete a well. To analyse something through just the eyes of a reservoir engineer or geoscientist without honouring everything else results in a very limited view. Many times a reservoir engineering problem can be answered through a greater understanding of geology, and vice versa. I have found success by approaching all projects through various lenses to ensure a complete picture, and ultimately a better solution. In the last 5 years of my career, I have focused on learning more about geology, geochemistry, geochemistry, and log analysis. I believe that a greater knowledge in these disciplines makes me a better reservoir engineer.
