With £5m PI & £5m PL cover & FDIS Certification, our inspection aims to assist the RP comply with the RR(FS)O. For existing buildings where Building Regulations are not applied retrospectively, LFDC’s fire door inspections follow BS 8214: 2016 Timber-based fire door assemblies – Code of Practice as our target for compliance. Fire door assemblies with clear, 3rd party certification and performance evidence will be classified as CERTIFIED. For fire door assemblies without test evidence but demonstrated to be well-maintained and capable of fulfilling their original function,ikely functional, we will assign a NOMINAL or NOTIONAL fire door status. LFDC’s key USP is our commitment to remediation over replacement where possible. As an independent entity, we offer no further services and will therefore always provide an honest and cost-effective solution for ensuring compliance with statutory regulations. Our report will include detailed recommendations for remediation to the existing fire door assemblies rather than simply replacing them. This allows the Responsible Person to liaise with the Fire Risk Assessor and, if considered appropriate, send our defect summary out to tender to 3rd party certified fire door maintenance firms for pricing. This approach not only provides a cost-effective solution but also reduces the embodied carbon impact of a building, adhering to the circular economy principles.
