While recruiting hunters and anglers for a lifetime, Lone Star Outdoor News Foundation provides hunting and fishing opportunities, supports wildlife research, outdoor journalism, and benefits youth education. Lone Star Outdoor News Foundation started in 2012 with the idea to recruit hunters and anglers for a lifetime. We want to open people’s eyes to the worlds of hunting and fishing and inspire them to continuously build their own traditions each year. This creates a cycle that brings new people into the outdoor industry and helps it thrive. We do this by giving someone the opportunity to get out in the field or on the water with us; we guide them step by step by taking these excited applicants out and giving a hands-on experience like no other. We show them our way of hunting and fishing by teaching them about safety, respect for the animal, the importance of their harvest, and even the satisfaction of enjoying it as a nice meal. The foundation also purchases trips from outfitters and guides across Texas, therefore contributing to the industry. The outdoor world isn’t just about the hunting or fishing trip – it is also about the companies and people that help get you there – the camouflage or fishing shirt, the rod, and reel or the gun, the vehicle or transportation to get out there and the guides that lead you to the honey hole. Every piece along the way is just as important as the next and that is why we want to create this connection with people to teach them these principals.
