About Longhouse Reserve

LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton, NY, is a 16-acre sculpture garden and natural sanctuary founded in 1991 by Jack Lenor Larsen (1927-2020), internationally known textile designer and one of the world’s foremost advocates of traditional and contemporary craft. The mission of the institution is to exemplify living with art in all its forms, and it provides a unique cultural experience where programs in visual and performing arts, horticulture, and education are offered to the public. The extensive natural and cultivated species in union with art are what make LHR unique. LongHouse has made a pledge to earth equity, removing chemicals from our processes, conserving water, and adopting best practices for the plants, for bird and insect biodiversity, and for our garden staff and visitors.
