About LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society

LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society is a registered charity run by a Board of Directors, whose main offices are located on the backstretch of Woodbine Racetrack and whose mandate is to provide Ontario’s thoroughbred racehorses with a dignified retirement while educating horse people, racing fans and the general public as to the merits of its program. LongRun cares for upwards of 50 retired racehorses on its Lana Hershelle Sniderman facility, a beautiful 100 acre farm located in Hillsburgh, Ontario. Many of our horses are being rehabilitated and retrained in anticipation of being adopted into loving homes as riding or show horses. Others, because of their age or physicality, are offered permanent sanctuary and possible participation in the equine assisted therapy programs named H.O.P.E. (Horses Offering People Encouragement) which LongRun conducts in partnership with Woodbine Entertainment. LongRun is a TAA accredited association. When you adopt a retired thoroughbred racehorse through LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society, you are getting more than a horse. You’re getting an organization committed to your success in building a great relationship with your animal. We schedule regular updates in the first year to connect with you about care, retraining and more. We are always available to bounce ideas off, give advice and provide answers for you while you own the horse you adopted through LongRun.
