About Lonsdale Swimming & Sports Trust
Lonsdale Swimming Pool is home to Derby Phoenix Swimming Club which has been established for 50 years and, through the Derbyshire Swimming Association structure, develops young people who then have the chance to develop into the elite squads such as Deventio. Lonsdale Swimming & Sports Trust Ltd took over the operation of the former University of Derby pool in August 2007 under a management agreement. The Trust was set up for the purpose of: • Supporting sport – in particular swimming – in Derby and district • Acquiring the University of Derby Mickleover swimming pool (now known as ‘Lonsdale Pool’) • Making Lonsdale Pool available to local swimming clubs and schools • Promoting community and other uses.
