When I was asked to help an amazing woman from South Africa, Kate Polley, to distribute her debut book 'Sam and Finn', about the sudden loss after birth of one of her twin's 'Sam', I felt honoured to be involved. Initially, it was to help her manage the orders of this book, as Kate was based in South Africa & finding this process very difficult with a very young and growing family. Kate never created her book to sell - frustrated with the lack of help for Sam's older siblings and surviving twin 'Finn' she sat down & wrote this book as a Christmas present. She wanted it to help them not only remember Sam, but to talk about their feelings as well. Kate enlisted the help of a local illustrator & self-published her book. She posted images from the book on her Facebook 'twin loss support groups' & soon she was asked if they could buy copies. It was at this point Kate asked for contacted ‘Bliss’, I was working with them already, & they thought I’d be the perfect fit. Soon after we went on Skype – the rest they say is history. Initially, it was the worldwide orders for the book ‘Sam and Finn’ that I looked after and, then the requests about personalising the books came in thick and fast. It took a while to make it happen, this is a super-expensive process, but we managed to find a solution. Jump ahead to 2019 & with over 40 titles; variations in titles, skin tones, hair colour, & the addition of an adult range, helping children with the loss of a significant adult, these beautiful books are now AWARD WINNING! I've seen first hand what these books mean, & whilst running my self-publishing business, growing the loss books has become my passion.
